really are just too much perfection. they might be the only kind of person who can handle me tearily watching ‘so you think you can dance’ and then wanting to have a noodle food fight knowing full well I’m not a dancer and those noodles were my dinner.

she tells me as i rant on and on about everyone getting engaged and moving in together and holding hands on the warm nights on the crowded city sidewalks, “Julia, do what you love…every day if you can. i’m not sure what it is people love about it. surely not the helicopters buzzing about…

i remember setting my alarm and waking up at 2am just to see if the clouds had cleared so i could see the shower of meteors.

walking into church with mud on my feet from romping about in the grass minutes before we had to leave.

i am the girl who walks out of their Fishtown house barefoot onto the cobblestone street like i misplaced a shoe, or two. to check the mail or to skip from stone to stone to avoid the needle and the sticky looking heap that is most definitely in my way to getting to the trunk of my car—-where i so appropriately keep the box of framed sketches and paintings and photos and collages i couldn’t find wall space for.
